Our Team

Pam Maines

CEO & Co-Founder

Pam has substantial experience in the energy industry, with recent experience focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Pam received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from SUNY Stony Brook and an MBA from George Mason University.

She holds certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). She is based in Northern Virginia.

Kate R. Sherwood

COO & Co-Founder

Kate is a motivating leader with extensive experience in energy and cleantech finance, sales, and marketing, with a proven track record of working with large and sophisticated clients to meet their complex energy needs, accelerating growth and profit.

Before Zero Energy, she was president of Green Blue Energy, providing strategic leadership, sales expansion, and development consulting services to energy infrastructure clients including Aries Clean Technologies, Best Energy Reduction Technologies (BERT), and Equilibrium Energy.

Prior to Green Blue Energy, she served as energy business director for Wärtsilä’s North America energy storage business, where as P&L leader for its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) business line, she led the growth of engineered equipment (EEQ); EPC hardware, software, & services to over a half billion dollars turnover.

Previously, she served as sales director at Voltus providing demand response solutions to commercial & industrial customers, vice president of sales-North America at Centrica Business Solutions, P&L leader for Grid Modernization at 3M, and spent over a decade in the solar and energy storage industries, where she held leadership roles with Advanced Microgrid Solutions, SolarCity, Recurrent Energy, and SunPower.

Prior to solar, she spent over a decade in finance, marketing, and strategy consulting with the U.S. Department of Justice, Sun Microsystems, and Accenture.

Ms. Sherwood holds a MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BS cum laude from George Mason University.  She lives in Austin, Texas.

Laura Bacon

CCO

Laura Bacon serves as Chief Commercial Officer at ZeroEnergy Services, where she leads commercial strategy, strategic partnerships, and go-to-market execution across the company’s energy advisory and clean-energy solutions platform.

A proven commercial leader with over a decade of experience in the renewable energy and energy services sectors, Laura has built a track record of accelerating growth, scaling revenue, and translating complex energy markets into executable commercial strategy. She has held senior leadership roles across business development, enterprise sales, and channel strategy, working closely with utilities, building owners, and energy stakeholders to commercialize innovative, market-ready energy solutions at scale.

Prior to joining ZeroEnergy Services, Laura held leadership positions at Camus Energy, Centrica, and GE, where she consistently exceeded growth targets, launched new commercial programs, expanded enterprise customer relationships, and built high-performing teams that delivered sustained results.

At ZeroEnergy Services, Laura is responsible for aligning customer demand with scalable, data-driven energy solutions, expanding strategic partnerships, and enabling clients to successfully navigate decarbonization, electrification, and energy-cost optimization in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is known for her decisive leadership style, commercial rigor, and ability to drive results while advancing the clean-energy transition.
